ASLM LIS (ALIS) also known as BLIS-uganda is a comprehensive lab information management system deployed in over 300 government facilities in Uganda.
LabXpert Automation connects with ALIS through an application programming interface (API). Ensure that ALIS is updated to the latest version that supports the integration with Automation, contact the ALIS team for support. Below are the features supported by the integration;
- Mapping of machine parameters to ALIS test types and parameters
- Automatically Upload completed results
- Register machines in the lab
- Retrieving requests for bidirectional communication with machines
Ensure that the automation is installed on a computer that is on the same network as ALIS before attempting to follow the steps below.
Connecting ALIS
- Identify the IP address through which ALIS is accessed on the network. This will usually look something like 192.168.X.X depending on how the network is configured
- Once you have identified the IP address, You will need to register the ALIS installation in your automation application
- Click the [+] button in the systems section
- Select ASLM-LIS and click [Next]
- Enter your ALIS URL as follows: `http://ALIS_IP_ADDRESS/automation` Replace ALIS_IP_ADDRESS with your actual ALIS IP address
- Provide a username and password to the ALIS database. This is optional and is useful to provide ETL capabilities
- Click Complete and you will be presented with a system detail page
Mapping Test Parameters
Mapping test parameters is the process where you match parameters in ALIS to parameters sent by the machine. This is important because machines have different ways of identifying values than how they may be defined in ALIS.
Below is a list of tests that you usually need to map for the different types of machines
- Chemistry Machines
- Liver Function Tests
- Renal Function Tests
- Lipid Profile
- CRP
- CBC Machines
- Complete Blood Count
- Hb
- Reticulocyte Count
- Immunology Machines
